BELTSVILLE \u2014 On Saturday, Bishop Harry R. Jackson, senior pastor of Hope Christian Church, founder and Chairman of the High Impact Leadership Coalition, and member of President Trump\u2019s Evangelical advisory board, held a free \u201cZero Down\u201d homeownership workshop at the Hope Christian Church in Beltsville.<\/p>\n
The workshop, part of the UHOUSI Initiative, is designed to help first-time homebuyers and provide them with information on down payments, credit, and other barriers to homeownership. The workshop was taught by leading industry professionals.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is paramount that we address the racial disparity in homeownership and wealth creation among the African American community,\u201d said Bishop Harry R. Jackson. \u201cA key contributor to wealth creation is homeownership, yet African Americans lag far behind other households in the ability to purchase a home. Down payment assistance programs are critical to the financial futures of millions of African Americans across the country.\u201d<\/p>\n
CBC Mortgage Agency and Hope Christian Church partnered to host the UHOUSI Initiative event in an effort to increase homeownership among African Americans, other minorities, and millennials. UHOUSI combines down payment assistance with FHA-insured mortgages on a nationwide basis to help credit-worthy, qualified buyers achieve the increasingly elusive American Dream of homeownership. UHOUSI is a specialized version of the CBC Mortgage Agency\u2019s national down payment assistance program known as the Chenoa Fund.<\/p>\n
